Students in the first and second years of the1st cycle who feel that they can complete the1st cycle at the end of the current school year may sit the final exam for the1st cycle at the end of the first or second year instead of the final exam; if they fail the exam and/or do not pass all the disciplines attached to the diploma, they must continue their studies in the next year of the1st cycle and sit the final exam again.

Diplôme de1er cycle supérieur d'Accompagnement
The distinction (Très bien, Bien or Assez bien) qualifying the Diplôme de1er cycle supérieur is that awarded by the jury at the end of the final examination in the main discipline.
The Diplôme de1er cycle supérieur d'Accompagnement is also awarded to students who did not obtain a distinction in the final examination in their main discipline but whose results in the first and second year examinations so permit, in accordance with the procedures described in Title I - article 5 of the study regulations.

Course objectives and content
Training in specific accompaniment techniques and acquisition of the basic vocal and instrumental repertoire.
Development of professional skills.
Sight-reading (alone or with partners).
Knowledge and progressive acquisition of the vocal and instrumental repertoire.
Practice in transposition, continuo, choral and orchestral reduction.
Work with instrumentalists and singers.
The Diplôme de1er cycle supérieur d'Accompagnement is awarded to students who have obtained all of the following awards :
ECTS the1st cycle advanced accompaniment certificate 139 a certificate or attestation in each of the following compulsory complementary disciplines - analysis A or B 8 - introduction to music history 2 - complementary chamber music 9 - introduction to keyboard harmonisation A or B or introduction to composition A or B 8 - modern language 3 - practical aspects of the profession 1 and 2 1 - professional situations 4 - a certificate or attestation in an optional complementary subject of your choice :
- choreographic accompaniment
- basso continuo
- Italian lyric diction (accompanists)
- German lyric diction (accompanists)
- English lyrical diction (accompanists)
- keyboard harmonisation A or B (if introduction to writing chosen in DCI)
- initiation to A or B writing (if keyboard harmonisation chosen in DCI)

Bachelor's degree
A partnership between the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris and Sorbonne-Université enables Conservatoire students who so wish, and who are admitted to the 1st cycle, to obtain, together with the Conservatoire's 1st cycle diploma, and subject to fulfilling the conditions for enrolment at the university, the Bachelor degree of Music and Musicology from Sorbonne-Université, including the Diplôme National Supérieur Professionnel de Musicien (DNSPM) from the CNSMDP, and validation at the university of four 26-hour courses, spread over four semesters, chosen from the "Domaines musicologiques" teaching units.
Students are free to choose at which stage of their studies at the Conservatoire (1st or 2nd cycle) they wish to begin this university course.
Registration and payment of university fees are required to follow the courses. -

Eligibility
- piano performance of one or more works from the repertoire, posted on 10 January ;
- sight-reading for solo piano, preceded by a 10-minute performance with piano;
- sight-playing in real sound of one or more excerpts from works written for transposing instruments in Bb and D.
At their request, candidates holding a1st or2nd cycle piano diploma from the Paris or Lyon CNSMDs obtained less than five years previously, or currently enrolled in a piano class at one of the two CNSMDs, are exempt from test 1.
No exemption is granted for tests 2 and 3.
Admission
- Sight-reading accompaniment of an instrumental work, followed by about ten minutes' practice with the instrumentalist (10 minutes' practice with the piano);
- sight accompaniment of another instrumental work (short preparation in front of the jury, without piano).
Successful candidates for entry to the1st cycle who are not nationals of French-speaking countries must present, before 30 June preceding their first enrolment at the Conservatoire, a certificate issued by a body approved by the French government attesting to a level of French at least equal to B1 on the Council of Europe's scale of common reference levels.
