PresentationThe
Conservatoire's international activities include exchanges of students, teachers and administrative staff with over 80 partner establishments, as well as numerous teaching, research and production activities. Every year, concerts, performances, workshops, study trips and seminars in France and abroad bear witness to dynamic collaborations with leading institutions around the world.
The mobility of students, teachers and administrative staff is governed by the European Commission's Erasmus+ program, or by bilateral agreements with non-European institutions. International activity
In addition to exchanges of students, teachers and staff, the Conservatoire is involved in numerous international projects involving its classes and ensembles. On stage or in workshops, in studios or online, all departments collaborate with partners all over the world. From MDW University (Vienna) to the Taiwan National University of the Arts, from New Music Dublin to the Shanghai Percussion Festival, from Sistema Greece to the socio-educational foundations of Latin America (Batuta in Colombia, Guri in Brazil), the school's artists perform and engage across the globe.
Recent tours by the Orchestre du Conservatoire have included stops in London, Manchester, Sao Paolo, Vienna and Berlin. Those of the Ensemble chorégraphique headed for Lisbon, Taipei and Rotterdam.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the Conservatoire continued to welcome and support exchange students, adapting its programs to meet health requirements. State-of-the-art audiovisual equipment acquired during this period enabled us to set up online sessions with The Hague, Vienna, Los Angeles and Kyoto, and to implement new distance partnerships, notably with the University of the Arts in Tirana (Albania) and the Bolivia Clasica educational program.
International programmes
In addition to numerous bilateral projects, the Conservatoire works with its partners to set up joint academies and programmes involving several institutions.
The European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) organizes monthly courses in its member schools (Paris, Vienna, The Hague, Oslo, Vilnius, Fiesole, Manchester, Bern). Every year, prestigious venues (Wigmore Hall, Ghent Festival, Budapest Liszt Academy, Shanghai Conservatory) welcome the ensembles for professional concerts that reveal young international chamber music talent. Since 2020, this approach to career support has been developed through the ECMA Pro project, financed by the European Commission's Europe Creative program, which includes the creation of an online resource center.
The ECMAster program offers a diploma course in 2nd cycle advanced studies. Aimed at chamber ensembles from trio upwards, it requires two semesters of study (out of four) in two partner schools (your choice of Vienna, The Hague, Oslo, Vilnius, Fiesole or Manchester).
At Masters' degree level, the EUJAM (European Jazz Master) offers jazz students two semesters of training (out of four) at partner institutions: Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Jazz Institute Berlin, Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, Faculty of Music at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim).
The joint modules, intensive courses and online sessions of METRIC - Modernizing European Higher Music Education through Improvisation bring together the techniques and creative approaches of 15 institutions in a multidisciplinary perspective.
International networks
The Conservatoire de Paris is a member of several networks for international cooperation.
The European Association of Conservatoires brings together 280 higher music education institutions and is the most important network in this field. A resource center and forum for reflection and exchange, it offers dedicated platforms, working groups and thematic programs, as well as annual meetings.
The International Association of Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centers has some 2,000 members in 45 countries worldwide.
The International Association of Schools of Jazz has 80 members in 40 countries, organizing annual meetings for professional musicians, pupils and teachers.
The Audio Engineering Society brings together engineers, researchers, acousticians, teachers and students in the field of sound engineering.
