  • Entrance terms and conditions

    Access is via a test given by the teacher at the beginning of the year, which is used to guide students, whether in an optional complementary subject or a compulsory complementary subject, and to direct them to the A or B keyboard harmonisation class. The orientation tests are as follows

    • Harmonisation of a given song, after a short dressing room;
    • Sight-reading on the piano.

    This compulsory orientation test organised by the teacher will take place on Tuesday 17 September 2024 room 222.

    Students who have never taken keyboard voicing at the Paris Conservatoire must register for the keyboard voicing A test.

    The individual test times will be announced at the beginning of September by e-mail or on the notice board in front of office 336.

  • Assessment terms and conditions

    End-of-year examination :

    Paper 1: Harmonisation of a melody in the style of Schumann (30-minute box preparation)

    Paper 2: Your choice (20-minute practice session) :

    • contrapuntal bass (not figured)
    • or basso continuo (aria or baroque sonata)

    Paper 3: Your choice (30-minute box preparation) :

    • given varied theme in classical style (2 variations minimum)
    • or memorisation of a tonal fragment not exceeding 30 bars.
  • Duration of studies

    1 year, 2 to 3 hours per week. Possibility of a2nd year in a level depending on places available and on the teacher's advice.
