The instruments inventory

The instruments inventory has around 6000 references. The catalogs below are continually updated to take account of acquisitions and sales of obsolete instruments. We invite you to consult them regularly.

To facilitate access to information on the instruments, they are grouped below into thematic catalogs. These catalogs are a selection from the instrumental collections of the Conservatoire de Paris. For practical reasons, some instruments may not be included, such as studio or classroom instruments. On the other hand, all instruments useful for pedagogical or production purposes, or specific instruments, are listed in one or other of the catalogs.

The contents of the catalog sheets will be updated and expanded: photos and technical information (tuning forks, dimensions, etc.) will be added regularly.

These instruments are made available for teaching and production purposes, as well as for students' personal work. Some instruments may also be loaned for competitions, or as part of introductory or optional courses offered by the Conservatoire's various departments.

A "search" function at the top of each catalog page is available to help filter information.

From February 4, our new opening hours will be as follows:

Monday morning: closed
Monday: afternoon 2pm/16pm
Tuesday to Thursday: 10h/12h - 14-16h
Friday morning: 10am/12pm
Friday afternoon: closed

New: it is no longer necessary to take out insurance to borrow instruments outside the Conservatoire. We hope this simplification will encourage you to take even greater advantage of our collections.
