    A 3rd year may be considered provided that:
    - a request is made before the end of the 1st term of the 2nd year ;
    - all the complementary and optional subjects have been completed in 2 years, with the 3rd year only being granted to follow the main subject;
    - have received a favourable opinion from a committee comprising the school headmaster, the head of department and the teacher of the main subject.

  • Course objectives and content

    Development of artistic personality ;
    Ability to design and perform a recital independently;
    Ability to develop and express reflections on one's artistic practice;
    Development of the ability to enter professional life;
    Acquisition of techniques specific to vocal accompaniment in one-to-one lessons or in small groups, with the aim of developing the student's independence in a professional situation;
    Work in duet with a singer on the Lied, mélodie and oratorio repertoire;

  • French language certificate

    Candidates admitted to the competitive entrance examination for the 2nd cycle who are not nationals of French-speaking countries must present, before 30 June preceding their first enrolment at the Conservatoire, a certificate issued by a body approved by the French government attesting to a level of French at least equal to B1 on the Council of Europe's scale of common reference levels, then, before 10 December following their first enrolment at the Conservatoire, a certificate issued by a body recognised by the French government attesting to a level of French at least equal to B2 on the Council of Europe's scale of common reference levels.

Vocal accompaniment (2nd cycle)

Pre-selection, file review :

This cycle is open to candidates who meet one of the following criteria:

- holder of a Diplôme national supérieur professionnel de musicien (DNSPM) or an equivalent 1st cycle higher education diploma from a foreign country

- holder of a diploma from the Paris or Lyon CNSMDs

- a student in 2nd cycle studies in piano accompaniment or voice direction at the CNSMD in Paris or Lyon.

Candidates are shortlisted by an internal jury on the basis of an examination of their application. The application must include :

  • a copy of the required diploma ;
  • a curriculum vitae.

Candidates who do not obtain the full required diploma until the end of the school year may take the competitive entrance exam by submitting a certificate of schooling specifying their situation. If they are successful in the competitive entrance examination, they will not be granted final admission until they have presented the full diploma required, no later than 30 September of their first school year. Otherwise, they will lose the benefit of their admission.

  1. Performance from memory on the piano of one or more compulsory works from the repertoire 4 weeks before the date of the test, i.e. Monday 18 December 2023 (published on the Conservatoire website: www.conservatoiredeparis.fr);
  2. deciphering (preceded by a dressing room) of a piano piece.

Candidates who meet one of the following criteria may, at their request, be exempted from eligibility:

- holders of a 1st cycle diploma in accompaniment from the Paris or Lyon CNSMDs

- holders of a 2nd cycle diploma in piano, piano accompaniment or voice direction

- student enrolled in the 2nd cycle of piano accompaniment or voice conducting at the CNSMDP.

Procedure

  1. sight-reading (preceded by a dressing room) of the accompaniment to a melody or aria with a singer, followed by a short work with the partner in the spirit of chamber music, then a second performance of the piece;
  2. accompaniment of a melody (without prior rehearsal with the singer), the title of which will be announced 7 days in advance, i.e. on Monday 8 January 2024 (publication on the Conservatoire website: www.conservatoiredeparis.fr);
  3. sight-reading of a piano piece with short preparation before the jury;
  4. reduction of a score for choir, preceded by a dressing room;
  5. interview in French on the candidate's motivations.
