Alexander Technique (application to voice and instruments)

INFORMATIONS

  • Objectives and content

Most of the physical problems or stage fright that arise in vocal and instrumental practice stem from the considerable gap between the time we devote to our instrument and to learning about it, and the time we devote to mobilising our bodies.
The principles of the Alexander Technique enable us to develop our bodily self-awareness and psychophysical tools for optimal effectiveness on stage as the artist's personality blossoms.

Work is developed over two complementary sessions per week, one in individual classes and one in group classes.
    Individual classes:
Becoming aware of how the body functions appropriately in everyday movements through the principles of the Alexander Technique: free neck and leading head, building the back, circulating energy dynamics with directions in walking and sitting.
Introduction of warm-up procedures and whole-body mobilisation on a daily basis to ensure independence.
    Applications
For singers: applications in the deployment of the musculature required for breathing, with leg tone, the correct production of vowels, clarity of text and stage presence.
For instrumentalists: muscular development around carrying the weight of the instrument, spirals and twists based on back support, dynamic air column in postural efforts subject to the constraints of the instrument, development of flexibility and tone.
Group lessons: warm-up with micro-movements, development of efficiency and fluidity when entering the stage, walking in stage shoes, interpretation with a tonic presence of the body, practical work for the real athletic mobilisation necessary for the instrument and the stage.
