Classical and contemporary instrumental disciplines
Training in instrumental disciplines has been at the heart of the Paris Conservatoire's mission since it was founded in 1795. In the aftermath of the French Revolution, the Republic was looking for high-calibre musicians capable of celebrating its values and triumphs, giving artists a central role in society.
Early music
With around a hundred students and 25 renowned artists and teachers, pioneers or heirs to the "baroque revolution", the early music department trains performers in historical instruments.
Jazz and improvised music
The Jazz and Improvised Music department welcomes around 80 students each year. Supervised by a team of eleven teachers, they receive a high level of theoretical, practical and experimental training.
Each class is a workshop where young musicians compose, arrange and improvise.
Music Sound Image
The Music, Sound and Image department is the only one of its kind to offer training in the profession of musician-director (sound and image), with its thousand and one applications in the music industry, live performance and creation - recording, sound recording and composition.
