The Music Studies Department is responsible for cross-disciplinary action in the areas of research, training, professionalisation and the analysis of prospective studies.

She supervises the cross-disciplinary teaching of research methodology, introduction to pedagogy, modern languages and practical aspects of the profession, and organises master classes for student performers and composers. It coordinates training in musical mediation and the institution's artistic and cultural activities for external audiences.
The Music Studies Department monitors the integration of students and changes in the music and dance professions through the Observatoire des métiers, de la formation et de l'insertion professionnelle. It organises continuing education and validation of prior learning for people outside the institution.
The Music Studies and Research Department maintains partnerships with various institutions associated with the Conservatoire, in particular the universities of Paris-Sciences et lettres (PSL), Paris-Dauphine, Paris-8, Sorbonne-Université, and, for mediation training activities, the Cité de la musique-Philharmonie de Paris.
