    3 years maximum, for one hour a week with each teacher.

    Participation in joint courses is compulsory.

    Students in the first and second years of the1st cycle who feel that they can complete the DNSPM at the end of the current academic year may sit the DNSPM final exam at the end of the first or second year instead of the final exam; if they fail the exam and/or are unable to validate all the disciplines attached to the DNSPM, they must continue their studies in the next year of the1st cycle and sit the DNSPM final exam again.

    National Higher Professional Diploma for Musicians (DNSPM)

    The distinction (Très bien, Bien or Assez bien) qualifying the DNSPM is that awarded by the jury at the end of the DNSPM final examination.

    The DNSPM in harpsichord and basso continuo is also awarded to students who did not obtain a distinction in the DNSPM final examination but whose results in the first and second year examinations so permit, in accordance with the procedures described in Title I - article 5 of the study regulations.

    Advanced training for instrumentalists :

    • development of artistic sensitivity and individual and collective technical mastery ;
    • broad cultural training in both practical and theoretical fields (complementary disciplines);
    • awareness of the professional context.

    The Diplôme National Supérieur Professionnel de Musicien (DNSPM) in harpsichord and basso continuo is awarded to students who have obtained all of the following distinctions:

    A partnership between the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris and Sorbonne-Université enables Conservatoire students who so wish, and who are admitted to the 1st cycle, to obtain, together with the Conservatoire's 1st cycle diploma, and subject to fulfilling the conditions for enrolment at the university, the Bachelor degree of Music and Musicology from Sorbonne-Université, including the Diplôme National Supérieur Professionnel de Musicien (DNSPM) from the CNSMDP, and validation at the university of four 26-hour courses, spread over four semesters, chosen from the "Domaines musicologiques" teaching units.                                
                                    
    Students are free to choose at which stage of their studies at the Conservatoire (1st or 2nd cycle) they wish to begin this university course.                                
                                    
    Registration and payment of university fees are required to follow the courses.

Entrance exam

Harpsichord/Continuous bass (1st cycle)

Description :

 

Eligibility: Performance of one piece by each composer from the following selection:

1) Girolamo Frescobaldi: a Toccata ;

2) François Couperin: 1 or 2 pieces from Books I to IV;

3) Johann Sebastian Bach: 1 Prelude and Fugue from Books I or II of the Well-Tempered Clavier.

Total duration: minimum 15 minutes to maximum 20 minutes.

 

Admission:

-one or more compulsory works (posted on 10 January 2025)

-a piece of the candidate's choice, played from memory (maximum duration: 6 minutes);

-a sight reading 

-harmonic realisation on the harpsichord (preparation in the box: 10 minutes with instrument).

 

The jury reserves the right to listen again to one or more pieces from the qualifying round during the admission round.

 

N.B.: Successful candidates for entry to the1st cycle who are not nationals of French-speaking countries must present, before 30 June preceding their first enrolment at the Conservatoire, a certificate issued by a body approved by the French government attesting to a level of French at least equal to B1 on the Council of Europe's scale of common reference levels.
