Course objectives and content
Preparing for the chamber music profession and international chamber music competitions.
Developing the group's artistic identity.
Ability to design and perform a recital independently.
Ability of the group to develop and express a reflection on its artistic practice.
Development of the ability to enter professional life.
Research and approach an extended and personalised repertoire.
Development of a considered and autonomous artistic practice.
In-depth work in a group, as well as occasionally in a different composition group.
Each year, the group will present at least three concerts under professional conditions, one of which will take place as part of the programme to broaden and diversify audiences.
Master classes
Participation in the master classes is compulsory.

Age limit: the average age of the candidates who are members of the same ensemble must be less than 28 on1 October of the year of the competition, without any of these candidates having reached the age of 30.
Registration is compulsory for each member of the group.
Information for scholarship holders: candidates with scholarships will be reimbursed their share (for example, for a quartet member: €178/4: €44.5) at the end of the competition.
This competition is open to candidates in France who hold a Diplôme national supérieur professionnel de musicien (DNSPM) in instrument, singing or chamber music, or, in other countries, a Diplôme de1er cycle supérieur.
Candidates who do not obtain the required diploma in full until the end of the school year may take the competitive entrance examination by attaching a certificate of schooling specifying their situation to their application. If they are successful in the competitive entrance examination, they will not be granted final admission until they have presented the full diploma required, no later than 30 September of their first school year. If they fail to do so, they will lose the benefit of their admission.
ECMAster programme: candidates have the opportunity to apply for the ECMAster programme, an international master's degree in chamber music (see the Associated courses tab), by filling in the dedicated form when they register. More information on this joint programme is available on the European Chamber Music Academy website.
Pre-selection
Based on an internal jury's examination of an application including :
- a copy of the Diplôme de fin de1er cycle from a French or foreign higher music education establishment in the discipline concerned ;
- a curriculum vitae.
Admission
- a 20-minute programme proposed by the applicant, including works from different periods and styles;
- an interview in French or English with all the members of the group on their motivations (approximately 15 minutes).
Candidates admitted to the competition for entry to the 2nd cycle who are not nationals of French-speaking countries must present, before 30 June preceding their first enrolment at the Conservatoire, a certificate issued by a body approved by the French government attesting to a level of French at least equal to B1 on the Council of Europe's scale of common reference levels, before 10 December following their first enrolment at the Conservatoire, a certificate issued by a body recognised by the French government attesting to a level of French at least equal to B2 on the Council of Europe's scale of common reference levels.

Information boursiers : les candidats boursiers seront remboursés de leur part (par exemple pour un membre de quatuor : 183€/4 : 45,75€) à l'issue du concours.
Ce concours est accessible aux quatuors à cordes constitués de candidats titulaires, en France, d'un Diplôme national supérieur professionnel de musicien (DNSPM), ou, à l'étranger, d'un diplôme de 1er cycle supérieur de violon, alto et violoncelle.
Les candidats qui n’obtiendront le diplôme requis complet qu’en fin d’année scolaire peuvent se présenter au concours d'entrée en joignant à l’appui de leur dossier d’inscription au concours un certificat de scolarité précisant leur situation. En cas de succès au concours, leur admission définitive ne sera prononcée qu’après présentation du diplôme requis complet, au plus tard le 30 septembre de leur première rentrée scolaire. Dans le cas contraire, le groupe perd le bénéfice de son admission.
Présélection
Sur examen, par un jury interne, d'un dossier comprenant :
- la copie du Diplôme requis ;
- un curriculum vitæ ;
- une présentation du quatuor.
Admission
- un programme au choix d’une durée de 20 à 30 minutes ;
- un entretien en français ou en anglais avec l’ensemble des membres du quatuor (15 minutes environ).
L’entretien porte sur :
- Un retour sur la prestation du quatuor ;
- Les motivations ;
- Le projet d’études ;
- Le projet professionnel.
Les candidats admis au concours d’entrée en 2e cycle supérieur qui ne sont pas ressortissants d’Etats francophones devront présenter avant le 30 juin précédant leur première inscription au Conservatoire, un certificat émanant d’un organisme agréé par le gouvernement français attestant d’un niveau en langue française au moins égal à B1 dans l’échelle des niveaux communs de référence du Conseil de l’Europe, puis avant le 10 décembre suivant leur première inscription au Conservatoire, un certificat émanant d’un organisme agréé par le gouvernement français attestant d’un niveau en langue française au moins égal à B2 dans l’échelle des niveaux communs de référence du Conseil de l’Europe.
