Semesters 1 and 2
In DNSP1, students consolidate the fundamentals of contemporary dance and acquire a solid grounding in classical dance. At the end of the year, placement and body alignment are the skills on which to build in order to move up to the next class. Contact/improvisation classes, as well as theoretical classes in anatomy/physiology, dance music training and choreographic and artistic culture complete this teaching.
Expected skills :
Ability to assimilate the corrections and the various technical and/or theoretical elements set out by the teachers.
Precise knowledge of contemporary dance and its rigorous physical application.
Development of expressiveness and a creative imagination.
Affirmation of the student's personality, through strong motivation and attentive attendance.
Observation and assessment criteria :
Awareness of placement and mastery of the technical fundamentals of contemporary dance.
Awareness of placement in classical dance.
Expressiveness, sensitive engagement.
Musicality - relationship to time.
Involvement.
Semesters 3 and 4
In DNSP2, students deepen their knowledge and mastery of contemporary dance and begin to be able to master increasingly complex combinations. They will also begin to integrate what they have learned into repertoire work, by learning and practising extracts from the contemporary dance repertoire. The notion of interpretation is addressed.
Greater ease in classical dance is required. New tools for improvisation and composition are introduced. Theoretical and practical courses in musical-dancer training, functional analysis of the body in danced movement, somatic practice and choreographic and artistic culture complete this teaching.
Expected skills :
Mastery of the vocabulary of contemporary dance and its application in the execution of complex technical combinations.
Development of a unique artistic personality.
Ability to maintain a steady pace of learning.
Ability to adapt to different choreographic vocabularies.
Observation and assessment criteria :

Mastery of placement in classical dance.
Expressiveness, sensitive engagement.
Musicality - relationship to time and space.
Commitment, increased autonomy and self-evaluation.
Semesters 5 and 6
In DNSP3, students demonstrate a high level of mastery of the various contemporary dance techniques. They will be able to grasp different types of contemporary repertoire and move between group choreographies, duets and solos.
Mastery of classical dance is an integral part of the expected choreographic background, as is the ability to improvise and compose in a personal and unique way.
Knowledge of music and of choreographic and artistic culture is deepened, enabling students to contextualise and analyse their own practice and the different currents and styles they have encountered. Various techniques for preparing for and recovering from exercise are introduced.
Expected skills:
A high level of mastery of the placement, vocabulary and technical combinations of different contemporary dances, and the ability to adapt this mastery to different choreographic styles.
Accomplishment of a singular artistic personality and ability to propose different interpretations according to choreographic styles and approaches.
Ability to develop self-evaluation and to analyse the different choreographic styles in which learning takes place.
Observation and assessment criteria :
High level of mastery of contemporary dance techniques.
Good command of the fundamentals of classical dance.
Expressiveness, sensitive involvement.
Musicality - relationship to time, space and musical genre.
Commitment and ability to assert one's presence on a stage or in a dance studio during rehearsals or public performances.
