AFCMD Dance

At the Conservatoire, Functional Analysis of the Body in Danced Movement (AFCMD) takes a variety of forms throughout the first cycle of choreographic studies: regular group classes, individual classes and collaboration with dance teachers in their classes.

The AFCMD offers practice and experiences that provide students with an education in the fine perception of movement and a subtle, verbalisable awareness of dance. It is directly linked to, and complementary to, daily dance practice.

This moment apart is a necessary opportunity for them to observe dance movement.

It helps them to clarify their own bodily organisation, to adjust their intentions and to make coherent choices in the dance. These moments of sensitive learning help to develop their perceptive potential and guide them towards artistic virtuosity.
