Introduction to orchestration
Taking as its subject the works of two leading classical, romantic and twentieth-century composers, this option combines group and individual tuition with sessions in the form of a laboratory to introduce students to orchestration.
During this year-long course, the pieces produced are played by an orchestra (woodwinds in pairs) of 34 to 37 musicians.
Orchestration Sup.
Focusing on works by composers from the late 19th to 20th century repertoire, this class combines group and individual lessons with laboratory sessions with an orchestra in twos and threes, with a view to acquiring the keys to orchestration in all its forms.
This class is open only to students who hold the Certificate of Initiation in Orchestration, subject to the following conditions:
- they must have obtained a very good or good grade in the introductory orchestration certificate
- have submitted a reasoned application for admission to the department.
Applications will be assessed at the end of the certificate examinations. The applicant's attendance, results and motivation will be taken into account, as will the teachers' assessments.
The professors teaching this discipline are Guillaume Connesson, Marc-André Dalbavie and Anthony Girard.
