Objectives and content
Through the various disciplines taught, the aim is to enable students to adapt to the professional situations they may encounter in the future.
In the preparatory year, students are introduced to different styles and periods of classical dance, as well as mastering the academic style. This year is designed to bring students up to speed and help them integrate into a higher education establishment. The aim is both to confirm the prerequisites for entry to the first cycle of higher education (DNSPD) and to develop a pre-professional working method in terms of commitment, maturity and consistency.
In DNSP1, the fundamental aim is to continue working on placement and coordination in order to develop a sense of movement through breathing. Connection to the body, but also to space and music, is essential. Series work is also important for acquiring the physical capacities needed for more difficult sequences in the future.
In DNSP2, the main focus is on strengthening the muscles, taking into account the student's physical development. Awareness of hip placement continues in order to approach 'great technique'. The sequences become more complex and the rhythm faster.
Through the technical and artistic elements of the classical dance course, DNSP3 students prepare themselves for the professional demands that await them. The aim is to understand what is at stake for classical dancers in both past and present choreographic trends, so that they can develop a solid command of technique and an ability to adapt physically, intellectually, individually and as a group. Emphasis is placed on listening to each dancer's personality, to ensure a better match with their potential and their artistic and professional direction.
