    Expected skills :

    Ability to assimilate the corrections and the various technical and/or theoretical elements formulated by the teachers.

    Precise knowledge of contemporary dance vocabulary and its rigorous physical application.

    Knowledge of the basic vocabulary of classical dance.

    Affirmation of the student's personality, through strong motivation and attentive attendance.

    Observation and assessment criteria :

    Awareness of placement and mastery of fundamental techniques in contemporary dance.

    Awareness of placement in classical dance.

    Expressiveness, sensitive commitment.

    Assessment of courses

    Continuous assessment

    This covers all the teaching units for semesters 1 and 2 described above.

    By final examination

    An internal jury chaired by the Director of Choreographic Studies is set up to assess each student.

    Semester 2

    At the end of semester 2, UE 1 is assessed at the end of the semester:

    - A class given by the teacher responsible for the discipline,

    - A routine set by this teacher, performed as an individual passage.

    Each test is marked out of 20.

CONTEMPORARY DANCE

Advanced preparatory year (1 year)

Entrance examination 2025-2026

Required age: 14 to 18 (the age indicated is understood to be on 1 October 2025).

Registration: from 10 October to 15 November 2024 on the Internet www.conservatoiredeparis.fr

Application fee: €88.00 (only CROUS "higher education" scholarship holders are exempt from this fee. Scholarship notification must be submitted by 14/11/2024).

Test dates: 20 & 21 February 2025 in person (subject to change)

Eligibility - Eliminatory test on 20/02/2025:

Participation in a contemporary dance class taught by a Conservatoire teacher.

Duration: 1 hour

Candidates with a mark of less than 12 will be eliminated.

Successful candidates must attend the admission tests the following day.

Admission - Tests on 21/02/2025:

(only for candidates selected after the admissibility tests on the previous day)

1 - Contemporary dance class given by a teacher from the Conservatoire's choreographic studies department, including a series of compulsory routines.

Duration: 2 hours.

2 - Presentation of a personal solo

Duration of the solo: 1 to 2 minutes maximum.

The soundtrack of the admission solo must be uploaded to your candidate space by 31 January 2025 at the latest. If this is not done, we will consider that the candidate is presenting his or her solo in silence.

3 - Interview with the jury.

Duration: 10 minutes maximum

Each round is marked out of 20. Candidates who obtain an overall mark (average of the three marks) of less than 12 will be eliminated.

N.B.: Successful candidates who are not nationals of French-speaking countries must present, before 30 June preceding their first enrolment at the Conservatoire, a certificate issued by a body approved by the French government attesting to a level of French at least equal to B1 on the Council of Europe's scale of common reference levels.
