    The grade of the2nd cycle diploma conferring the grade of Master is the grade obtained in the free recital of the second year of the2nd cycle.

Description :

 

This cycle is open by competition to candidates who hold a1st cycle diploma in the same discipline from a French or foreign higher music education establishment.

 

Candidates who do not obtain a full1st cycle diploma until the end of the school year may take the competitive entrance examination by attaching a certificate of enrolment specifying their situation. If they are successful in the competitive entrance examination, they will not be granted final admission until they have presented the full diploma required, no later than 30 September of their first school year. If they fail to do so, they lose the benefit of their admission.

 

Pre-selection

After examination by an internal jury of a file including :

- a copy of the Diplôme de fin de1er cycle supérieur from a French or foreign higher music education establishment in the discipline concerned.

- a curriculum vitae.

 

Admission:

On the basis of an instrumental test and an interview in French behind closed doors.

Harpsichord:

- a compulsory work (to be posted on 10 December 2024) ;

-a programme proposed by the candidate lasting no more than 20 minutes and containing, as far as possible, works from different periods and in different styles.

This programme will be included in the candidate's application file and must be accepted by the CNSMDP.

 

Continuous bass:

-A programme lasting no more than 20 minutes, for a cast of the candidate's choice.

This programme will include a work or excerpt from a vocal or instrumental work by J.S. Bach, and a work or excerpt from a vocal or instrumental work in the French style of the 17th or 18th centuries.

 

This programme will be included in the candidate's application and must be accepted by the CNSMDP.

The candidate will be responsible for assembling his or her team, although he or she may ask the department for help in putting it together. They must also organise the rehearsals in advance: in addition to being judged on the performance of their continuo, they will also be judged on their ability to organise and lead the rehearsals and to give everyone the necessary start and energy at the moment of performance.

Candidates will perform their continuo mainly on the harpsichord, but may also use an organ if they wish.

 

- an interview in French on the candidate's motivations (approximately 15 minutes).

 

N.B.: the jury reserves the right to interrupt the candidate at any time.

 

N.B. : Candidates admitted to the competitive entrance examination for the2nd cycle who are not nationals of French-speaking countries must present, before 30 June preceding their first enrolment at the Conservatoire, a certificate issued by a body approved by the French government attesting to a level of French at least equal to B1 on the Council of Europe's scale of common reference levels, before 10 December following their first enrolment at the Conservatoire, a certificate issued by a body recognised by the French government attesting to a level of French at least equal to B2 on the Council of Europe's scale of common reference levels.
