2nd cycle workshop

The workshop is the central laboratory of each year's class, where students practise the different modes of expression of jazz and improvised music. Here they can study the main trends and the most influential musicians in the history of jazz; develop their listening and analytical skills; acquire rhythmic and harmonic autonomy; work on phrasing, pulse and tempo; and create their own compositions.

Promoting contemporary repertoires and new works

The aim of this subject is to make students aware of the issues involved in the mediation of contemporary repertoires and creation through :

  • one or two training workshops ;
  • a group mediation project involving all or some of the students on the course.

The outreach project is supervised by a mentor teacher. Various stages are organised throughout the development of the project.
