Joint Module in Electroacoustic Performance Practices
This IN.TUNE joint module focuses on musical creation and performance through electroacoustic means. Students develop individual and collective projects exploring the design, adaptation, and performance of new electroacoustic instruments, systems, scores, and performative frameworks. The module combines local teaching, online sessions, visiting teachers, independent and collaborative work, and an intensive international BIP phase. It emphasizes collaboration, experimentation, and reflection on how technology shapes musical practice.
Number of ECTS: 6
Who can apply? Students with prior experience in music technology or electroacoustic practice.
Participating institutions: Royal Conservatoire The Hague, Uniarts Helsinki – Sibelius Academy, ESMUC Barcelona, Norwegian Academy of Music Oslo and mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

Musician’s Health: Sustainable Practice
Build a resilient, lifelong career in music. Explore sustainable practice strategies, injury prevention, mental resilience, and physical well-being in this joint course led by mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and Sibelius Academy. Examine the psychological, physical, and creative factors that contribute to productive practice, injury prevention, time management, focus, resilience, and reflective learning and other learning strategies. Emphasis is placed on cultivating mindful, efficient, and sustainable practices that can support a lifelong engagement with music.

Who can apply? Any student from participating institutions.

Planned timeline: Platform opens 12.10. Asynchronous online course including two online lessons with the teachers (4 hours).

Socially Engaged Musicking
The course invites you to connect your artistic practice with social responsibility and to explore music-making as a relational and community-oriented process. You will explore collaborative and participatory approaches and develop context-sensitive formats of presentation beyond traditional concert settings.
The BIP is divided into three phases:
- an online preparation phase including a digital improvisation session;
- an in-person week in Vienna featuring input sessions, artistic practice, reflection, and concerts;
- an online mentoring phase in which you develop a specific socially engaged music project together with international peers and mentors, which you can later offer to or realize with partners (festivals, social institutions, etc.).
Number of ECTS: 4
Who can apply? This BIP is open to instrumentalists (including non-Western instruments and electronics) and singers from all fields of study based in one of the IN.TUNE partner institutions.

Hidden Harmonies, Meaning, and Power in Women Composers' Works
If you want to explore music by women composers, join this course! In an international classroom bringing together teachers and students from mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and University of Arts Belgrade, we will theorize, analyse, listen to, and discuss the music of remarkable yet underrepresented women composers. We will examine how canons are formed, how music-theoretical language can include or exclude, and how gender-sensitive approaches to music theory can open new perspectives on musical meaning. This joint online course is grounded in project-based learning, culminating in an individual contribution published as part of an open-access online exposition.

Who can apply? Bachelor (from the second year onwards), Master, and PhD from participating institutions.

Conference Practices
This joint online course, collaboratively offered by the Norwegian Academy of Music (NMH) and the Sibelius Academy (SibA) in Helsinki, focuses on academic conference practices within the field of music theory. Designed for master’s students, the course offers practical experience in preparing and presenting scholarly work in a simulated conference environment. Over eight online sessions, students will engage in keynote lectures, student presentations, panel discussions, and roundtable conversations. The course promotes cross-institutional academic collaboration and supports students in developing skills essential for participating in international scholarly communities.
Number of ECTS: 5 ECTS – active participation / 2 ECTS - passive participation
Who can apply?
- Norwegian Academy of Music Oslo – Master students can apply for active participation (5 ECTS)
- Uniarts Helsinki – Sibelius Academy – Master/PhD students can apply for active participation (5 ECTS). Bachelor/Master/PhD students can apply for passive participation (2 ECTS)
