Continuous bass organists

Admission to this cycle is open to students of the CNSMDP who have obtained a Diplôme de^1er Cycle supérieur d'Orgue-interprétation.

Entrance test (September)

An entrance test is organised as follows for students admitted to the^2nd advanced cycle in organ performance who have obtained an advanced^1st cycle diploma from outside the CNSMDP:

1. sight-reading of a recitative ;
2. sight-reading of a sonata excerpt or an aria ;
3. transposition of a basso continuo ;
4. performance of a compulsory work (posted two weeks before the test).

Test^Nos. 1, 2 and 3 will be held in a box.

For test 4, the singers or instrumentalists are chosen by the teachers and will be available for a work session with the candidate the day before the exam.

Selection

Candidates are selected by an internal jury on the basis of an examination of their applications, following the competitive entrance examination for the^2nd cycle and the entrance test.

Examination

At the end of the ^1st year for students completing their studies in 2 years

1. a compulsory work, prepared over a four-week period with no input from the teachers ;
2. a free programme of no more than 20 minutes.

Students must accompany the work on organ and harpsichord. They perform with a team of partners they have assembled themselves. Singers or instrumentalists may accompany several students.

Duration: 50 minutes maximum

Free programme

Students are judged both on the composition of their programme and on the variety and representativeness of the periods, styles and genres presented.

Students must accompany on organ and harpsichord. They will perform with a team of partners they have assembled themselves. Singers or instrumentalists may accompany several students.
