  • Course objectives and content

    This cycle is open by competitive examination to candidates who hold a Master's degree in singing, instrumental music, jazz, early music or instrumental or vocal chamber music, or a2nd cycle diploma from a French or foreign higher music education establishment, or a DFS from the Paris Conservatoire or a DNESM from the Lyon Conservatoire, and who wish both to perform at a high level and to pursue a clearly defined personal project in the field of performance, creation, artistic dissemination, etc., while at the same time

    • while at the same time working towards professional integration, i.e. :
      performing and preparing for the various aspects of the performing arts (recital, chamber music, soloist with orchestra, major international competitions, soloist competitions in major orchestras, etc.);
    • carry out a clearly identified artistic project, relying on personal initiative and creativity on the one hand, and on the Conservatoire's technical, artistic and/or teaching resources on the other.

    Students or groups of students are supervised by a teacher appointed by the Director of the Conservatoire on the recommendation of the student or group of students.

Entrance exam

Performer's diploma - chamber music

Opening date for registration :  01 April 2025

Closing date for registration :  15 May 2025

Description :

1- Pre-selection by an internal jury based on video and application file [June 2024].

No later than the closing date for registration for the entrance competition, the candidate will send :

- one or more videos, to be uploaded to the candidate's online space, in which he or she performs a free programme lasting approximately 15 to 20 minutes overall for all the videos, enabling his or her technical qualities and musicality to be assessed (N.B.: videos already recorded for other occasions by the candidate are accepted);

- an application including :

  • a copy of the pre-requisite diploma
  • a curriculum vitae ;
  • a summary of the applicant's previous work as an interpreter;
  • a letter of motivation setting out the applicant's study plan (the study plan should indicate, for example, the desired artistic tutor, the repertoire the applicant wishes to study, the research he or she would like to carry out (repertoire, organology, history, analysis, etc.), the use to be made of the Conservatoire's resources (media library, instrumental parks, audiovisual service, etc.), the international competition(s) he or she plans to enter, etc.);

2- Instrumental or vocal admission based on an instrumental or vocal test and interview: [rehearsals and tests between 9 and 14 September 2024].

- performance of a coherent programme in the form of a short recital lasting between 20 and 30 minutes; the candidate must specify the duration of each work on the programme;

- an interview lasting approximately 15 minutes, behind closed doors, in French or, where appropriate, in English, focusing in particular on the candidate's motivations and study plans;

The jury will hear all or part of the programme, reserving the right to interrupt the candidate at any time.

N.B.: Candidates must specify by the closing date for registration for the entrance competition whether they will be playing with their own accompanist or with the pianist accompanist proposed by the Conservatoire: in the latter case, a 45-minute rehearsal is organised at the Conservatoire.
