From initiation to teacher training, the course trains students to supervise pupils from beginner to pre-professional level, in a variety of contexts. In addition to the technical skills inherent in teaching an artistic discipline at the highest level, they learn to play a leading role in their future establishments, by proposing and leading teaching projects and designing and organising training courses. As teaching artists who are open to their environment, they acquire the tools to work with a wide range of educational, cultural and social players, so that they can play an active part in the artistic and educational life of the region. A wide range of disciplines is offered to provide an understanding of all the facets of the teaching profession, both in the theoretical field, with musical culture, aesthetics and educational sciences, and in the practical field, with improvisation, rhythm pedagogy, applied teaching workshops and placements. This knowledge is acquired through a variety of approaches, ranging from lectures to independent work, including research and the management of a pedagogical project, which are two decisive moments in the training.

Thinking about research not "about music" but "within music", research into the pedagogy that emerges from the performer's experience: this is the whole point of the research dissertation that completes the course. In this space, instrumental mastery, theoretical knowledge, scientific methodology and pedagogical skills all feed into personal research geared towards professionalisation.

Like open-air laboratories, the pedagogical projects offer students the opportunity for a singular experience, one that questions music teaching in depth and helps shape their personal approach. Each project, whether carried out in France or abroad, gives them carte blanche to create an original teaching situation. They design and implement the project, working with a wide range of audiences in the field of music education, as well as in a variety of settings including schools, health care and social services. Each project is a unique field of experimentation, conducive to the invention of new pedagogies that mobilise multidisciplinarity and collective practice.
