INITIALE, the Conservatoire's record label
By creating its own record label, INITIALE, the Conservatoire de Paris aims to offer particularly promising students or ensembles nearing the end of their studies a widely distributed debut recording, both in record stores and on online listening and download platforms. The discs are designed as "calling cards" for the young artists, as they prepare to leave their student status and enter the professional circuit.
The INITIALE label defends all repertoires, regardless of period, style or genre, including contemporary music, jazz and improvised music.
The label's approach remains rooted in a pedagogical context. The artistic direction of each recording is provided by a student at the end of his or her studies at the Formation supérieure musique, son, image (FSMSI), as part of a professional internship.
This label draws on the exceptional expertise of the audiovisual department, whose sound engineers develop technologies that are unique in the world. Some discs offer 3D listening in two versions: binaural for immersive, spatialized listening through headphones, and transaural for listening through loudspeakers.
