Sight reading B strings

Acquire the reflexes needed to quickly read and understand a score.

The string sight-reading class comprises two training modules: A and B.

Module B

Individual and group work on orchestral lines; learning the role of conductor.

Compulsory for all violin, viola, cello and double bass students in the^{1st year} of the advanced cycle.

Final examination

1. two orchestral excerpts, performed individually ;
2. six orchestral excerpts performed as a section, with each candidate taking it in turns to lead one of the excerpts.

The orchestral excerpts performed are chosen from among those worked on during the year.

An examination session is held at the end of each semester.
