Objectives and content
The aim of this course is to acquire the methodological tools necessary for the practice
research and mediation and to activate them through the implementation of a project.
To do this, it proposes the following axes:- acquiring the useful methods for researching and writing about music: physical and digital research tools, bibliography, lexicography, state of the art, reviews, critical apparatus, score editing, programme notes, etc.
- initiate dramaturgical reflection in connection with the year's opera production
- discover and carry out mediation projects: introduction to the sociology of classical music audiences, cultural institutions and public cultural policies; study of mediation situations in a variety of partnership contexts
- carry out a research or mediation project individually or collectively. This can be carried out in the second year. It may take the form of collaboration on a production, in which case an agreement is signed. It may be research work carried out as part of the DCO "Participation in a research project".

Entrance terms and conditions
This course is open to all Conservatoire students (subject to availability).
It is compulsory for students on the musicology preparatory cycle. It is compulsory as a compulsory complementary subject for the2nd cycle advanced musicology diploma conferring a master's degree, except for students in the Métiers de la Culture class, who will choose some teaching modules (critical and digital publishing, library research, etc.) in consultation with the two teachers concerned (Cf. advanced musicology cycle course of study). -
Assessment terms and conditions
CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT
Continuous assessment accounts for half of the final exam mark: it covers individual or group writing, bibliographies, editorial projects, participation in research projects, reading reports, analysis of mediation situations, etc.
FINAL EXAMINATION
End-of-year presentation:
- Oral presentation of a portfolio including the year's work and an assessment of the
