When a student who has obtained the chamber music certificate holds a1st cycle higher diploma in his or her instrumental discipline, this diploma will have the double title: "[instrument] and chamber music".

Course objectives and content
Advanced chamber music training
The aim of this cycle is to deepen chamber music practice in a group setting through regular supervision by one or two teachers over the course of a year. It prepares students for the competitive entrance examination to the2nd cycle of chamber music or string quartet studies. The programme also enables students to develop their knowledge of the group's own repertoire, to devise relevant and varied programmes and to develop their ensemble technique.

Bachelor's degree
A partnership between the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris and Sorbonne-Université enables Conservatoire students who so wish, and who are admitted to the 1st cycle, to obtain, together with the Conservatoire's 1st cycle diploma, and subject to fulfilling the conditions for enrolment at the university, the Bachelor degree of Music and Musicology from Sorbonne-Université, including the Diplôme National Supérieur Professionnel de Musicien (DNSPM) from the CNSMDP, and validation at the university of four 26-hour courses, spread over four semesters, chosen from the "Domaines musicologiques" teaching units.
Students are free to choose at which stage of their studies at the Conservatoire (1st or 2nd cycle) they wish to begin this university course.
Registration and payment of university fees are required to follow the courses.

Please note: this page does not concern the string quartet competition, which is separate.
The first-cycle chamber music audition is open to candidate ensembles composed, at the time of registration, of at least 50% of students currently enrolled at the CNSMD of Paris in a performer’s curriculum, or who have already obtained a performer’s diploma from the CNSMD of Paris.
A candidate may not apply with more than one ensemble.
