IN.TUNE WP3 Webinar – Pedagogical innovation at the heart of European collaboration
Updated 17 September 2025
On September 15, 2025, the Conservatoire de Paris hosted the online launch webinar for the WP3 working groups of the IN.TUNE alliance. This event marked the beginning of the development phase for the pedagogical formats selected in January 2025.
Pedagogical formats for a connected musical Europe
The webinar introduced the two main phases of WP3:
- Development phase: designing common educational formats.
- Implementation phase: launching joint online courses, blended intensive programmes (BIPs), joint modules, and joint programmes.
Each format aims to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation, promote student mobility, and align with European standards.
An example: the online course “Conference Practices”
Ram Rauven (Norwegian Academy of Music, Oslo) and Inkeri Jaakola (University of the Arts Helsinki – Sibelius Academy) shared their experience co-developing an online course on conference practices in musicology. This course addresses the need to prepare students to actively participate in international conferences—an often overlooked aspect of academic training.
Through this course, students develop essential skills for academic conference participation. They learn how to select relevant conferences, write proposals, structure informative papers, engage audiences, and contribute meaningfully to discussions.
Towards a hybrid and collaborative pedagogy
Other formats presented included:
- BIPs: short, hybrid programmes combining in-person and online sessions.
- Joint modules: requiring careful coordination of schedules, credits, and teaching methods.
- Joint programmes: ambitious and complex, involving administrative harmonization among partners.
- Joint online courses: requiring a specific pedagogical approach, with short videos, regular interaction, and a clear structure.
