    1st YEAR HIGH SCHOOL

    1st year examination

    Duration: 25 minutes maximum

    1. Johann Sebastian Bach:2nd and3rd movements of a trio sonata of your choice, in agreement with the teacher;
    2. a tierce en taille of the student's choice, in agreement with the teacher;
    3. a neoclassical work of neoclassical virtuosity or contemporary writing, to be chosen by arrangement with the teacher.

    The programme must be played from memory, with the possible exception of the contemporary work.

    Year2 exam

    Duration: 40 minutes maximum

    1. a set of works typical of French music (plein-jeu, tierce en taille, basse de trompette, récit, grand-jeu, etc.);
    2. Johann Sebastian Bach: Prelude and Fugue, Toccata and Fugue or Fantasy and Fugue, chosen in agreement with the teacher;
    3. a Romantic work ;
    4. a contemporary work.

    The programme is worked on semi-autonomously: the programme is worked on at the beginning of the year with the teacher and then taken up again by the student alone at the time of the examination, with the exception of the compulsory work.

    One of the works is compulsory six weeks before the exam. For 2024-2025: compulsory work no. 2.

    The programme must be played from memory, with the possible exception of the contemporary work.

    DNSPM final examination

    Public recital

    Duration: 25 minutes maximum on each of the two organs

    1. a work by Johann Sebastian Bach ;
    2. a French work composed between 1650 and 1750 ;
    3. a Latin work from the 17thor 18th centuries and an Anglo-Saxon work from the 17th or 18th centuries;
    4. a work by a 19th-century composer (César Franck, Franz Liszt, etc.);
    5. depending on the timing, one or both of the following works:
      1. a work by a composer from the turn of the 19thand 20th centuries (Charles-Marie Widor, Louis Vierne, Charles Tournemire, etc.)
      2. a neo-classical work (Marcel Dupré, Maurice Duruflé, Jehan Alain, Olivier Messiaen, etc.);
    6. a contemporary work.

    Rounds 1 to 3 will be played on the Dupont organ at the Cité de la Musique.

    One of the two works in round 3 is played, if possible, on the Conservatoire's Italian organ.

    Rounds 4 to 6 are played on the Rieger organ at the Conservatoire.

    The programme on the Rieger organ must be played from memory, with the exception of the contemporary work.

    One work from one of the six categories above is required six weeks before the examination. For 2024-2025: compulsory work no. 5.

    The compulsory work must be practised alone, in complete autonomy.

    The1st cycle Advanced Certificate in Organ Performance is awarded to the student who has passed the final examination of the DNSPM.

    The certificate is awarded on the basis of the marks awarded by the jury at the end of the DNSPM final examination.

    2nd higher cycle

    1st year recital

    Non-public recital

    Duration: 40 minutes maximum

    1. a virtuoso programme of your choice, in agreement with the teachers ;
    2. a work composed after 1980 using contemporary writing methods, to be chosen from a compulsory list, to be posted eight weeks before the recital;

    3. oral comment by the jury after the deliberation.

    The programme will be played on the Rieger organ at the Conservatoire.

    The programme must be performed from memory, except for certain contemporary works.

    2nd year recital

    Public recital

    Duration: 50 minutes maximum

    Free programme, on a Parisian organ.

    The Prix d'Orgue-interprétation is awarded to the student who has won a prize in each of the two2nd year recitals.

    The mention for the Prix d'Orgue-interprétation is the mention awarded by the jury for the free recital in the2nd year of the2nd cycle.

    CERTIFICATES

    Three certificates issued by the teachers (possibly assisted by a CNSMDP in-house musician) must be validated during the2nd year of the advanced cycle. These assessments are organised by the teachers during joint classes, and are spread over the two years of the2nd Cycle Supérieur, depending on the progress of the students.

    1. 15 to 20 minutes of classical French music on the organ of the Château de Versailles;
    2. 15 to 20 minutes of polyphonic music on the Italian organ of the CNSMDP ;
    3. 30 minutes of Bach and/or German music (Dietrich Buxtehude Nicolaus Bruhns, etc.) on the Dupont organ at the Cité de la Musique.
