  • Objectives and content

    The course is aimed at students in the3rd year of the first cycle as well as those in other years who wish to move on to the1st year of the2nd cycle (subject to meeting the conditions for taking the DNSPM final exam).

  • Programme
    <p>Refining the student's compositional work and guiding them towards autonomy in the conception and realisation of a compositional project specific to jazz.</p> <p> </p> <p> Composing for improvisers - thinking about the balance between comfort and challenge for the improviser</p> <p>Creating space for improvisation within the composition</p> <p>Composition exercises using series of intervals or harmonic sequences or rhythmic figures</p> <p> Exercises in form and development - from 'standard' form (AABA, ABAC, etc.) to more complex forms</p> <p>Devising and performing introductions, interludes, endings and codas</p>
  • Assessment terms and conditions

    Free composition for ensemble with a view to a concert by the3rd year workshop at the end of the year.

    Composition based on a series of intervals, harmonic sequences or rhythmic figures - 3-hour dressing room with piano
