Contemporary dance - DCI

INFORMATIONS

  • Objectives and content

In chronological order, students will study subjects based on founding techniques linked to the history of 20th and 21st century dance: Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, German dance.

The teachers aim to develop demanding skills, a mobile and responsive know-how, and a refined and conscious presence. The emphasis is on the use of weight and the search for volume and amplitude in the danced movement. Mobility of the spine, adaptability to a space and floor work are emphasised.

The fundamental principle of teaching contemporary dance is to train a human being, an autonomous and responsible professional dancer, taking into account the diversity of bodies and the uniqueness of each individual.
