Assessment terms and conditions
1st YEAR HIGH SCHOOL
1st year examination
Duration: 20 minutes maximum
- a movement from a compulsory classical concerto (Joseph Haydn, Luigi Boccherini, Johann Stamitz, Antonín Kraft, Ignace Pleyel, etc.), posted one month before the examination ;
- a compulsory etude, posted one month before the exam;
- a genre piece chosen in agreement with the cello teacher.
Year2 exam
Duration: 30 minutes maximum
- a compulsory concerto movement, posted one month before the examination ;
- one movement from one of Johann Sebastian Bach's Suites for solo cello, chosen in agreement with the teacher;
- a compulsory contemporary work, posted two months before the exam.
DNSPM final examination
Public recital
Duration: 30 minutes maximum
- one compulsory concertante work, posted two months before the examination ;
- one movement of your choice from a compulsory Suite for solo cello by Johann Sebastian Bach, to be posted two months before the examination;
- a supplementary programme of the candidate's choice, in agreement with the teacher, which must include a work written within the last thirty years.
The Cello1st cycle certificate is awarded to students who pass the DNSPM final examination.
The certificate is awarded on the basis of the mark awarded by the jury at the end of the DNSPM final examination.
2nd higher cycle
1st year recital
Non-public recital
Duration: 30 minutes maximum
- a concerto from the entire repertoire, your choice ;
- one of Johann Sebastian Bach's Suites for solo cello, to be chosen ;
- a contemporary work of your choice ;
- a maximum of three compulsory orchestral excerpts from the "orchestral excerpts" list, posted two months before the recital;
- an oral commentary by the jury after deliberation.
The whole of this programme, with the exception of round 4, is chosen at the beginning of the school year in agreement with the teacher.
This set is subdivided into two programmes, A and B, each lasting a maximum of 30 minutes:
Programme A Programme B a. the 1st or2nd part of the concerto a. the other part of the concerto b. the first or second part of the Suite by J.S. Bach b. the other part of the Bach Suite c. the contemporary work of your choice d. orchestral excerpts
The final examination will include one of the two programmes, chosen by lot three weeks before the examination.
For reasons of length, the Director reserves the right to withdraw part of the programme three weeks before the examination.
