Objectives and content
In DNSP1, the aim is to grasp the principles of partnership through basic exercises. Students in this class work on mastering the fulcrum and balance, décalés, contrepoids and strength of the terre leg, coordination and interaction with their partner, gyration and back strengthening, and approach interpretation through excerpts from the repertoire. The aim of this year is to acquire technical mastery of the basic exercises and to pass on the knowledge acquired.
In DNSP2, the course consists of exercises that enable students to tackle the great classical repertoire. It provides the tools to encourage a two-way conversation between the dancer, which requires listening, sensitivity and coordination on both sides.
In DNSP3, the specific techniques of both classical and neo-classical pas de deux are further developed to achieve harmony, aesthetics and a sense of musicality, through continued work on what has been learned in previous years, with more risk-taking and development of lifts. This study will be developed both through exercises and through access to pieces from the repertoire for their future use with company and as soloists.
