Course objectives and content
Aims
To develop as a versatile choreographic artist, in all the professional contexts that the artist of today and tomorrow will encounter: in the rehearsal studio, on tour, in different performance contexts, in a research activity, on mediation projects, in connection with other disciplines, while developing one's own autonomous practice, respectful of one's body and its needs.
- Develop a very high level of technical mastery in different choreographic vocabularies and styles.
- Gain an understanding of the profession of dancer-performer in a pre-professional working and creative situation with choreographic artists and artists from other artistic fields.
- Acquire substantial experience of the stage (touring) and of the different contexts of performance and audiences, and develop unique interpretive skills.
- In the context of high-level dance practice, structure artistic thinking and develop a critical eye.
- Develop versatility and adaptability to changing artistic contexts.
- Encourage autonomy, optimise the dynamics of personal work and the ability to develop artistic practices.
- To consolidate entry into the professional world through work experience placements in companies or with choreographic artists.
- Open up a range of skills in the fields of research, transmission and mediation.
Skills expected of the 'Dancer performer: repertoire and creation' diploma
- The ability to prepare oneself physically and mentally for different working circumstances.
- Recognise, analyse and appropriate different choreographic, artistic and aesthetic proposals and know how to respond to them in a unique, considered and appropriate way, particularly in pre-professional situations (auditions as part of in-house projects, workshops, shows, tours, etc.).
- Have an excellent knowledge of current French, European and international choreographic creation.
- Analysing and contextualising choreographic repertoire and creation
- Analyse artistic and professional contexts and know where you stand.
- Relate experiences and disciplines encountered and be able to take a reflective look at one's practice.
- Develop a subject, drawing out one or more specific issues, culminating in the writing of a dissertation.
- Design a professional project and identify the resources and means required to implement it.
- Fluency in English in professional situations.
- Basic knowledge of employment law and unemployment insurance entitlements (intermittence du spectacle).
- Introduction to administrative procedures related to the profession of dancer-performer and project management.

UE 1 Regular training for dancers
Daily dance classes: deepening of knowledge and mastery of dance movement in classical and contemporary dance, and development of autonomous work within a given framework.
Weekly duration: 7h30

EU 2 : Artistic projects
Development of diversified work (creation and repertoire), as part of the "Conservatoire Choreographic Ensemble", the aim of which is to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for the professionalisation of choreographic artists.
20 to 25 weeks of approximately 20 hours each with a guest artist and additional in-house supervision (ballet mistress).
Total annual duration of between 400 and 600 h25
UE 3: Introduction to cultural mediation
Theoretical and practical seminar focusing on the analysis of different situations in relation to the public and an introduction to the construction of mediation projects aimed at different audiences, and professional role-playing in the context of touring.
Total annual duration: 50 hours

UE 4 : Methodological approaches to theoretical and practical research
Acquisition and consolidation of the methodological, conceptual and discursive tools needed to carry out research as part of the preparation of a written dissertation, supplemented where appropriate by documents (videos, scores, photos, etc.).
Teaching content: problem-based approach based on the teaching content received by the students.

UE 5: Administration/Labour Law
Content covers knowledge of the various professional contexts in the choreographic sector, the legal status of performers, the administrative set-up and management of choreographic projects.

The courses taught in semesters 1 and 2 cover the technical and artistic orientations of theConservatoire's choreographic ensemble, the aim of which is to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for dancers to become professional dancers, both in the field of classical dance and contemporary dance.

Unit 5 : Work experience placements
Based on students' proposals and the advice of the Choreographic Studies Department, work placement agreements are drawn up with professional companies.
Writing of an internship report.

EU 6 : Thematic Seminar
The content of the seminar is based on an invitation to different artists to work on their own creative and research themes.
It may include practical work, feedback on experience, etc.
Length of seminar: between 20 and 25 hours

Entrance competition 2024-2025
Application dates: from1 February to 12 March 2024 on the Internet www.conservatoiredeparis.fr
Required age: between 18 and 26 (the age indicated is as at 1 October 2024).
Application fee: €88.00 (Only CROUS "higher education" scholarship holders are exempt from this fee. Scholarship notification must be submitted by 11/03/2024).
Candidates must satisfy the following prerequisites:
- DNSP in Dance (or equivalent)
- Baccalauréat (or equivalent)
- French language certificate for non-French speakers(level B2)
Eligibility stage - Pre-selection (applications accepted):
Once your application has been accepted, you have until 17 March 2024 - 23:30 to submit the following items in "multimedia deposit":
1 - a video containing a solo or personal composition of no more than 3 minutes,
2 - a covering letter in French (explaining the applicant's interest in taking this course)
3 - a professional project in French (the candidate must explain how this 2nd cycle follows on from his/her dance career and set out his/her professional plans after the end of this 2nd cycle).

The pre-selection is marked out of 20 by the jury. Candidates with a score of less than 12 will be eliminated.
Candidates will be able to consult their candidate space (on www.ent.cnsmdp.fr) from 29 March 2024 - 16:00, to find out if they have been selected for the admission tests on 18 & 19 April 2024.

1 - Participation in workshops - full day (times to be specified)
2 - Interview (in French) with the jury on the candidate's plans to enter the2nd cycle, based on the information in the application file. Maximum duration: 20 minutes
Tests 1 & 2 are marked out of 20 by the jury. Candidates with an overall mark (average of the two marks) of less than 12 will be eliminated.
Individual and personal invitations will be issued for the admission tests.
N.B.: Candidates who are successful in a competitive entrance examination for the 2nd cycle who are not nationals of French-speaking countries must, if this is their 1st enrolment at the Conservatoire, present a certificate of level B1 before 30 June 2024 and a certificate of level B2 before 10 December 2024, issued by a body approved by the French government attesting to a level of French at least equal to B2 on the Council of Europe's scale of common reference levels.
