From the design of the school's project to its day-to-day implementation, the director of an arts teaching establishment has a wide range of responsibilities. At the heart of educational and cultural action, he or she ensures that projects are carried out within the conservatoire and in the community, in line with the establishment's ecosystem, resources and specific issues.
In addition to the theoretical dimension, consisting of knowledge of sociology, anthropology, education sciences and the history of cultural policies, there is also a practical dimension, involving work placements in conservatoires. In addition to these artistic and pedagogical skills, the course provides knowledge of public institution management and team leadership. It trains people to be capable of running projects on a regional scale, in conjunction with local partners. To round off the course, future directors are required to write a dissertation on a cultural practice issue.
