Vocal ensembles A

INFORMATIONS

  • Objectives and content

The Vocal Ensemble A gives students the opportunity to practise six centuries of polyphonic vocal repertoire through dedicated productions within the school, the major annual opera production, and productions in partnership with other departments and other choral structures in the Ile-de-France region.

This work also enables students to prepare for the demanding auditions of professional choirs, which are a source of employment. To this end, the students work with the conductor and accompanist on a catalogue of choral features based on a study of auditions and competitions for permanent and non-permanent ensembles.

  • Programme

On several occasions during the year, the students are brought together for 'choir audition coaching' to compare the progress they have made with the demands of professional conductors. These coaching sessions consist of organising a mock audition with a guest conductor, during which the students propose 3 to 5 pieces (opera, mélodie, lied, oratorio), decipher a work in aesthetic styles ranging from the Renaissance to the present day, and are quizzed on choral features in their catalogue.

The school also organises general auditions for French and international choral conductors every year.
