Objectives and content
To present an objective approach to sound phenomena and the workings of an audio production, production and broadcasting chain in the contexts of "sound for music" and "sound for images". To put the concepts covered into practice.

Programme
<p><strong><em><sup>1st</sup> and<sup>2nd</sup> terms:</em></strong> Courses - Sound basics</p> <p> </p> <p>Cross-disciplinary overview of the world of audio - perceptive, technical, pragmatic and craft approaches.</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Introduction to acoustics and the phenomenon of sound</li> <li>Perception and psychoacoustics</li> <li>Architectural acoustics</li> <li>General structure of an audio production chain (microphones, levels, links, etc.)</li> <li>Principles of stereophonic sound recording</li> <li>Signal digitisation and digital audio</li> <li>Post-production: editing, mixing, processing</li> <li>Sound and multimedia, audio and IT</li> <li>Sound formats for film and video</li> <li>Multichannel sound</li> <li>Image/sound ratio (analysis and commentary)</li> <li>Critical and comparative listening to musical recordings.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong><em>3rd term:</em></strong> Practical work (sound recording, post-production)</p>

Entrance terms and conditions
As an optional complementary discipline, this course is reserved for students at the CNSMDP.
As a compulsory course for students of music and visual arts.
