Objectives and content
Develop strategies for analysing scores and experimenting with gestures specific to the guitar.
Broaden the range of repertoires practised.
Question the relationship between listening and interpretation.
Developing skills in harmony and accompaniment.
Solo and ensemble reading.
Playing solfeggios, codes, symbols, graphics, settings.
Reading/playing techniques: intervals, chords, harmonic sounds, polyphonic writing.
Specific features of time notation: tempi, metrics, rhythmic figures, durations, verticality.
History of instrumental techniques and notation: tablatures, continuo, grids, alfabeto, facsimile, fingered editions.
Contemporary instrumental techniques / aesthetic diversity.
Introduction to basso continuo and harmonization.

Entrance terms and conditions
Compulsory for all students in the1st year of the advanced guitar cycle.

Assessment terms and conditions
Final exam
- Sight-reading of two solo pieces ;
- sight-reading of a duet with another instrument ;
- a short harmonic exercise, possibly in the form of a figured bass.
The test is preceded by a 15-minute practice session.
