Sight-reading brass

INFORMATIONS

  • Objectives and content

    Situated at the crossroads between music training, chamber music, instrumental and orchestral classes, the brass sight-reading class aims to :

    • to acquire the quick reflexes needed to apply solfeggio, musical and instrumental knowledge to a new score, and above all to rapidly analyse its substance in order to give a true interpretation;
    • It is also the first - and decisive - stage in learning to play as a group, thanks to individual readings with piano accompaniment, and readings in ensembles, which help develop the ability to listen to one's partners and the reflex to direction: marginal vision and synchronism;
    • in-depth study of the main solos and orchestral passages in the instrument's repertoire
    • familiarisation with the usual transpositions.

    Practising ensemble music requires the acquisition of absolute control over pitch, rhythmic precision, nuances and flexibility of tone, for complete autonomy.

  • Entrance terms and conditions

    Compulsory for all students on the1st cycle of the French horn, trumpet, trombone, bass trombone, saxhorn / euphonium and tuba courses, from the 1st year.
