Research methodology - DE pathway

INFORMATIONS

  • Objectives and content

    Preparation of a research project prefiguring the Personal Study Work (PSW) that the student will carry out under the guidance of a tutor (see Personal Study Work study path):
    - formulation of a pedagogically-oriented subject chosen by the student in agreement with the methodology teacher ;
    - drafting of a full argument including :
    - a clearly written problem statement, presenting all aspects of the planned research ;
    - a review of previous work on the chosen topic (if applicable);
    - a work plan setting out the various stages of the research;
    - a list of the subjects to be studied
    - a list of the documentary resources envisaged (books, articles, audiovisual documents, websites, etc.), as well as a compulsory work from the music education sciences bibliography.
    - Choice of a tutor in line with the themes of the subject and in agreement with the methodology teacher.
    Presentation of the main areas of research in the field of music pedagogy and mediation;
    Presentation of the institution's research orientations;
    Learning research methods and practices:
    - researching sources using reference documentary tools, databases and electronic resources ;
    - library work sessions on a variety of research projects;
    - presentation of standards for written research ;

    - formulating a research question related to the teaching profession and preparing a research project for the dissertation.

  • Entrance terms and conditions

    This course is compulsory for2nd year DE students.

  • Assessment terms and conditions

    The subject of the personal study project (PSD) must be submitted on the form provided and approved by the methodology teacher by 20 March at the latest.
    ECTS credits (3) are awarded when the full justification of the PET subject and the choice of tutor are definitively validated by the college of heads of department under the chairmanship of the director or his/her representative.
    Any duly justified change to the PET subject during the course must be validated by the same procedure.
