Objectives and content
OBJECTIVES
- To understand how an orchestral rehearsal or musical rehearsal session unfolds
- Prepare and annotate a score for multi-camera recording of a live performance or concert
- Learning the "BBC" method of cutting a score (detailed plans and preparation of framing sheets)
- Preparing a score for recording with remote-controlled cameras (sequencing, memorising shots and calling up memories)
- Reading wide shots of a live performance to capture the main events and make an appropriate cut, in order to transcribe the staging or choreography in the best possible way.
- Working with a director, helping him or her to make production choices based on a reading of the score
- Play an active role in announcing the cut and production plan (announcing live shots in coordination with the director)
- Actively participate in and manage a framers' brief (presentation of the orchestral set-up and unusual instruments, staging issues, description of the set and image frames predefined with the director, checking with the framers the terms used, etc.).
- Supervising a live broadcast (launching credits, liaising with the broadcaster, launching magnetos/subjects, etc.).
CONTENT
Practical workshops with different professionals, music consultants, observation and practical work under live conditions (recording opera, ballet, symphony concerts, chamber music, solo repertoires, jazz sessions....).
