Objectives and content
This subject enables students on the trombone and bass trombone programme to take up historically informed playing on copies of period instruments in order to complete their training. It enables them to discover or deepen their knowledge of trombone making, its historical development and the variety of repertoires associated with it.
Organised into work sessions and artistic projects supervised by a variety of contributors, the courses cover the following points:
- knowledge of instrument making and its development ;
- mastery of the techniques associated with different instruments
- knowledge of the languages and styles specific to each repertoire and period;
- in-depth study of diminution and ornamentation techniques for repertoire from the fifteenth to the seventeenth centuries;
- work on ensemble and orchestral repertoire.
This discipline enables students to take part in various artistic projects supervised by the Early Music department or the Classical and Contemporary Instrumental Disciplines department.
