Objectives and content
To provide students with the technical and musical means to orchestrate and instrument a work originally intended for the keyboard.
It also aims to introduce them to writing and directing arrangements (instrumental or vocal) produced for film soundtracks, songs, transcriptions, etc.
Year 1:
- Piano reduction of symphonic works
- Introduction to conducting small instrumental ensembles
- Timbre recognition, analysis and reading of orchestral conductors (from Bach to contemporary music)
2nd year :
- Writing arrangements (strings - brass - voice) in a song context
- Collective recording sessions, arrangement direction, instrumentations, student compositions (instrumental formation defined beforehand).
- Orchestration (for orchestra in pairs) based on a piano work from the classical, romantic or impressionist repertoire.
3rd and 4th years :
- Tutoring for all the students' personal projects (arranging, album production, music for the screen, etc.).
- Collaboration with the film music option and film schools (FEMIS, ENSAD, LISAA, etc.)
