Objectives and content
As part of their postgraduate training in sound engineering, FSMS students undertake several work placements in companies and a compulsory 2-month placement in the Conservatoire's audiovisual department. Validation of the internship in the audiovisual department is a prerequisite for obtaining the Master's degree in music and sound engineering and entitles students to 20 ECT credits.
Objectives
- To impart in-depth knowledge of the professions targeted by the postgraduate training in sound engineering (recording production, music creation, live performance and music broadcasting)
- To impart a sound knowledge of the realities of the professional world
- Develop the ability to integrate into a team - find your place
- Work alongside the department's sound engineers to perfect sound recording and post-production techniques
- Validate a career plan in line with the FSMS course and possibly specialise in a particular sector of activity
- Understand and fit into a team, a professional organisation (responsibility, hierarchy, pooling, sharing)
- Understand and respect the planning of an audiovisual project
- Understand and respect work standards
Internships are organised for each student as part of a partnership with the Conservatoire's audiovisual department. Each placement is governed by an agreement and gives rise to a meeting with the head of the department, his or her assistant and the head of the audiovisual department to :
- clarify the content of the placement and set objectives
- check that the placement is consistent with the student's level and availability
- establish the content of any placement reports to be submitted
- enable any adjustments to be made for the final dissertation.
- facilitate the integration of the results and productions achieved during these placements into the student's "production projects". (book)
Content/assignments during the work placement :
- Sound engineer, responsible for the recording quality of an audio or audiovisual project
- Sound engineer, responsible for the sound system of a public event organised at the Conservatoire
- Artistic director, responsible for the quality of artistic production of a musical project carried out at the Conservatoire.
- Musical advisor to the director
-Sound assistant
Organisation of working time:
- In line with production schedules
- During the day, evenings, including weekends and school holidays
- In accordance with project deadlines.
- Trainees are entitled to 5 days off during the course. This leave is subject to approval by the department manager.
- At the start of the placement, the department manager will assign a series of projects to the trainee, and other projects will be planned as the placement progresses.
- All the assignments will be carried out within the framework of the internship.
- All assignments will be finalised and handed in before the end of the internship.
Evaluation of the placement :
An evaluation form on the achievement of each objective and the student's behaviour within the structure will be sent to each tutor.
This feedback can be consulted by the student.
