Objectives and content
Discover or perfect the practice of a second instrument.
Develop listening and harmonic skills by playing a polyphonic instrument.
Learn to play the piano, sight-read, harmonise and discover the repertoire.
A weekly lesson of 45 minutes.
It is preferable to be able to devote around three hours a week to personal work.

Entrance terms and conditions
Open to all Conservatoire students.
Students are divided into three groups (beginners, intermediate and advanced).

Assessment terms and conditions
Final exam
At the end of year 1
Duration: 15 minutes maximum
- a piece lasting between two and five minutes (depending on level), chosen in agreement with the teacher, to be played by heart ;
- (simple) cadences to be performed without preparation. Beginners will be asked to play unchained cadences, with up to three accidentals in the key signature; others will be asked to play all keys.
- Sight-reading (three levels), preceded by a short practice session with the piano.
The examination at the end of the first year also takes into account the teacher's assessment of the year's work.
Final examination
At the end of the2nd year
Duration: 15 minutes maximum
- a piece chosen in agreement with the teacher (depending on the level), to be played by heart ;
- a piece involving one or more instrumentalists;
- a sight reading (three levels), preceded by a short dressing room (approx. 5 minutes) with piano;
The prepared programme described above in Nos. 1 and 2 will not exceed 15 minutes in total.
