Application dates: Monday 18 March to Monday 29 April 2024, online, www.conservatoiredeparis.fr

Level of general education

Baccalaureate or French or foreign diploma accepted as exempt or equivalent.

Level of movement practice

. Practice of dance or another physical activity (mime, circus, etc.) at a professional level or exercise of a profession related to movement.

. Have developed a good understanding, practice and memory of movement.

Students studying at the Paris Conservatoire

Students studying at the Conservatoire de Paris may take the entrance exam for the movement notation course, provided they have passed the baccalauréat.

Fluency in French (level B1)

Candidates who are successful in the competitive entrance examination for the1st cycle of advanced studies and who are not nationals of French-speaking countries must present, before 30 June preceding their first enrolment at the Conservatoire, a certificate issued by an organisation approved by the French government, attesting to a level of French at least equal to B1 on the Council of Europe's scale of common reference levels.

For candidates who do not meet these conditions, the director of the establishment and the director of choreographic studies, on the advice of the teaching team, may, by way of exception and at the reasoned request of the candidate, grant permission to sit the admission tests.

Validation of prior learning

On the recommendation of the teaching staff and after consultation with the Director of Choreographic Studies, the school management may validate skills and knowledge acquired elsewhere.

I - On entry to the programme, the skills and knowledge acquired in kinetography (for example, at the Dance Notation Bureau in New York, Ohio State University, Folkwang Universität der Künste, the Hungarian Academy of Dance, etc.) will be validated by the teachers responsible for the programme on the basis of an examination of the student's course of study. Students will be required to submit a writing dossier comprising a set of exercises and/or sequences dealing with solo movements and covering the basics of Laban grammar, and a video presenting a solo performance of a work or an extract transmitted from a score.

The application must be sent in as soon as you receive your invitation to the entrance exam, before the start of the tests.

This validation gives access to the2nd year.

II - Previous experience will be assessed during the first training sessions. Validation of prior learning will result in a reduction in the length of the course and the award of credits corresponding to the areas of study acquired.

TESTS

Pre-selection based on application (curriculum vitae and covering letter).

Admission over one day

1 - A practical workshop

2 - An interview with an internal jury lasting a maximum of 20 minutes on the candidate's project and motivations.

Exceptionally, if the candidate is unable to come to the Conservatoire for the entrance examination, and at his/her request, a remote selection procedure may be envisaged, provided that the competition procedure is respected.

The jury draws up a list of admitted candidates, supplemented by a waiting list if necessary.
