This cycle is open to candidates who hold a Diplôme national supérieur professionnel de musicien (DNSPM) in the same discipline in France, or an equivalent diploma from a higher cycle abroad.
Candidates who do not obtain a full 1st cycle diploma until the end of the academic year may take the entrance examination by submitting a certificate of schooling specifying their situation with their application. If they are successful in the competitive entrance examination, they will not be granted final admission until they have presented the full diploma required, no later than 30 September of their first school year. If they fail to do so, they will lose the benefit of their admission.
Pre-selection:
The application must include:
- A detailed presentation of an artistic project explaining the candidate's personal aesthetic approach;
- A letter of motivation;
- A CV;
- A video of no more than 30 minutes in which the candidate performs and presents his or her writing and improvisation concept.
Admission:
1. Written tests: Open piano dressing room (4 hours )
- Writing for a big band (1 page);
- Develop a composition based on a theme or rhythmic cell on 2 staves;
- History of jazz: Write a text on each of the 3 questions asked.
2. Audition: (30 minutes maximum)
- Programme: A personal composition arranged for a group chosen from among our students (maximum one quintet); an arrangement of a piece from the standard repertoire for the same group. Rehearsals must be held in advance with students from the department. The personal composition should allow the candidate to express his/her own aesthetic direction.
- Sight-reading of a piano standard with a 15-minute dressing room with piano (for non-pianists only).
3. Interview in French on the candidate's motivations (approximately 15 minutes).
N.B. : Candidates admitted to the competitive entrance examination for the2nd cycle who are not nationals of French-speaking countries must present, before 30 June preceding their first enrolment at the Conservatoire, a certificate issued by an organisation approved by the French government attesting to their level of proficiency in French.
