For a long time, students and professors at the Paris Conservatoire have held a close relationship with research, often in its non-academic form, given how closely practice and  research are interconnected.

Re-enforced by  the Bologna Process (Bachelor-Master-PhD), a research approach is integrated into all study paths, as well as in the professors’ activities. Research done by performers, composers, theoreticians, sound specialists, and pedagogues results in theses, critical editions supported by recordings, new works… and above all, a vital research community which comes together regularly in seminars, study days and conferences.

The research dimension is nourished by new partnerships forged with numerous universities : Paris IV Sorbonne for performers, and for composers,  Paris-Sciences et Lettres (PSL*), in collaboration with the national art schools and the Ecole normale supérieure. Additional partnerships with Paris universities VI and VIII, as well as IRCAM, only serve to enhance research activities :  together, they provide an unparalleled interdisciplinary and renewed vision of artistic research today.

Exceptional in-house resources complement these partnerships.
